i have just received my external filter (ex1200) and my external heater (hydor 300w) bonus being the connections have 16mm great, my question is this:

from the filter i need to use the plastic pipe which came with the filter no problem to connect the heater BUT i am not going to have much space to play with from the filter to the heater, maybe an inch or two as it sits in my cupboard, does this matter?

Pretty sure you need to connect hoses to each end of the heater then run one of those to the filter and the other to intake or out-take pipe.

yeh you do buy i am on about the gap from the filter to the heater? the pipe will only be about an inch or so going from the heater to the tank there'll be loads...same on the other pipe (intake) tank to filter be loads. i want to make sure that it doesn't matter that the filter to heater doesnt matter if the pipe is only 1" or does it need to be more?

bump

As long as you have enough pipe to securely hook it all up then I doubt it will matter I only have about 3 inches to my filter outlet pipe.

Just to confirm what FishFanatic has said, it doesn't matter how far away from the filter your heater is, just so long as you have enough pipe to do all of your connecting and be able to get in there to take it apart if you need to. I think mine may only be like 1 1/2" away!
