Hi everyone,

My Juwel vision 180 has condensation problem. The lights gets wet and the lid. Is there anything i can get to prevent this?

Also is it dangerous if the light bulbs are wet?

Thanks

Martyn

cant you get a condensation cover for it, i had one that i got for about £3, yes it is dangerous if the lights get wet for a long period of time, i think they are possibly spalsh proof but that is it ( maybe wrong)
also is it a wooden hood that you have, if so i would get something sorted asap as i have seen tanks look awful with the damage it does to wooden hoods

sure someone who has a jewel tank will be better to advise you tho, im just a pauper with no such beautiful tanks :(

The Juwel lighting is built to be waterproof at the tube end, so water in the tank should not get into the unit through condensation. The unit itself is not waterproof though, so don't drop it into the tank, not that you would do that anyway :shifty: . The lights should remain waterproof enough to run, provided that the end caps are replaced with the light tubes :good:

Thx for your comments.

the only think i hate the most is water dripping everywhere when i open the lid.

I installed a air thingy yesterday and had to sit the lids in a bucket cos they were quite wet. Tank stinks of ammonia right now as fishless cycling.

Presumably you have the temperature up for the cycle? If so, don't worry, the condensation rate will increase, as you have more water evaporating from the tank due to the heat. At the end of the cycle when you return the temperature to normal, the condensation will reduce :good:

How is the cycle going? seen a drop in ammonia yet?

All the best
