can i ask, are all danio, gourami and barbs a no no with guppys cause of niping?

How about this:
10 male Guppys
8 Rummynose Tetra
6 Panda Corydoras
6 Cherry Shrimp
and a pair of Dwarf Badis

oh yeah i love the badis. i think they will be a definate on the list actually. a maybe to the rummynoses. thanks !

java moss,Hygrphila for background, Chain Sword for foreground.
Sand (black?)
bogwood
group of corys (not sure how many)
dwarf badis(again not sure on numbers)
shrimp
snails
male guppy
one or two other things

thinking i need somethiing a little unusual against all these pretty things

banjo catfish, they get to 30cm so its a no go for my tank.

Where did you find that? Im talking about the common banjo catfish/Bunocephalus coracoideus These only get 5" and are very slow growing. Ive had one for about a year now and in that time its grown about 2cm. There great fish but you dont see them much. Ive found since i got another one mine re alot more active and do often pop out at feeding time. I hope to up mine to 4-5 soon so hopefully ill see even more of them.

I wouldnt go for Bunocephalus coracoideus
1.Some keepers report them eating Shrimp (not brineshrimp) and shrimp pellets
2.Banjo Cats hide a lot, behind plants or under sand so you want see much of them & they are nocturnal

Right i think i have decided roughly on my stock list, so could anyone give me feedback on this?

12 male guppy
10-15 rummynose/ember tetra
3 badis dario
5 mixed leopar/dwarf corys
10 shrimp
1 apple snail
2 netrite snails

with black sand, bogwood and plants that were mentioned before in the thread. will fit as many plants in as possible i think!

Looks fine but what types of corys are you planning to use?

i dunnooo, is true that different corys will shoal together? if that is the case then i hope to get a mix of a couple of kinds. if not then which, say two types, would be best for to choose from?

so after much contemplation and bad luck, my tank will no longer be home to indbred weak guppys.
anyone think of any alternatives?


might just start planning all over again beggining with
6 cory
7 ember tetra
snails and shrimp
but what else?
