Complete Re Stock

Last week I posted a thread asking for what i could stock with my female livebearers, but after months of too mnay fry, i have decided to sell on all my females, so i now have an empty tank, except for a golden apple snail.

so what to do with it? i definately want some beautiful MALE guppys. please post as many ideas as you can for fish, inverts, plats, amphibians, substrate, decor etc, anything!


tank is:

100 litre
480 litre and hour internal filter
heater
light

Ok, how about.. 30 male Guppies?

Alright, not that addicted?
20 male Guppies
10 Cherry or Amano Shrimp
6-10 Corys
..maybe a pair of Keyholes at a later date?
Sand.
Lost of Java moss, Hygrphila for background, Chain Sword for foreground.

30 male guppys.....that is so tempting. But im thinking a bit more variety.
Really like the plant suggestions. great idea! and definaely sand, and I really think i want some corys too.
can i ask what are keyholes?

just di a quick google of them, they seem interesting. but maybe a big too big?

i guess requirments for suggestion for this tank would be:

peaceful, community fish
nothing too big (guess 10cm would be the absolute limit)
nothing nippy due to guppys
fair bit of variety
NO FEMALE livebarers!! haha

Does it have to be guppies or would endlers be ok? Guppies limit you alot of bigger centre piece fish.
I would go for something like
15 Endlers
3 Apistogramma agassizii or 2 Red breasted acara
8 Panda corys
1 Banjo catfish or BN

Or you could go for a micro tank with
10 Guppies or Endlers
10 Ember tetar
10 Marble hatchets
15 Pygmy corys

How about this:
10 male Guppys
8 Rummynose Tetra
6 Zebra Loach
and a pair of Apistogramma

For Plants, Vallis at the back, Java Fern in the middle and a small Anubia at the front. And a nice big piece of bogwood. And black sand for substrate

for me, it has to be guppys not endlers, as i have fallen under the guppy spell. haha
i will google a few suggestions there and get back to you... i think the only thing im decided on is
a few corys,some shrimp, 2 netrite snails, the apple i hav, as many male guppys as i can fit with what ever else i decide on.

How about this:
10 male Guppys
8 Rummynose Tetra

and a pair of Apistogramma

I wouldnt put guppies and apistogramma together ive tried it with a few different types of apistogramma and its never went well. Plus i would go for a trio because its best to keep 1 male to multiple females.

I know but there still fairly small and would fit in well for a surface fish.

ohhh, Apistogramma they're like german blue rams i once saw at a lfs? i loved them. but im guessing there is a range of different ones. is one alright to keep alone with smalled community fish? (guppy, cory etc)

They are very shy and gentle, I have found. I mean, they're more likely to freak out at their own shadow than bother another fish, in my experience. I have kept them on a number of occasions with show quality guppies without any problems.

Yeah there both types of dwarf cichlids. Theres loads of different types of apistogramma but most are not that commonly found. Ive always had problems with Apistogramma and Guppies. I always found the males not to be to much of a problem aslong as the guppies stayed out the way but if they did get to close because they cant swim to fast the male would just take chucks out there tails. The females where even worse i found they where quite nippy with them and used to pester them. I think if you go for fancy guppies it will be best to stay stay away from cichlids.

okay so, i think ive decided on plants/substrate etc thanks to your advice.

but stocking plants still only look like corys, guppy, shrimp and snails. can anyone think of a variety of fish that can all be kept singularly, are smallish and would like guppy and corys?
and also would a shoal of something be a wise move or not?

can i ask, are all danio, gourami and barbs a no no with guppys cause of niping?

so, in rpely to all your suggestion (thank you by the way)
banjo catfish, they get to 30cm so its a no go for my tank. ember tetra, for me there is probably more exciting tetra out there and i didnt like the look of hachets
all the cichlids you suggested are beautiful, but obviously weve decided nono with the guppys
