Ok after my molly had died that was kind of my centre piece fish, what would you advise for a new centre piece fish?

Maybe a male Betta? I have never used one in a community tank but I have seen it. Plus they have some very awsome coloration and they are very hardy little guys.

What is already in the tank?

Honey gourami.

Bettas and guppies have mixed results together and in such a small space, I don't think it would be smart to chance it.

It would be interesting to try a single Honey Gourami and see how it behaves. If it seems happy you may end up with a good balance, if it remains shy and your water parameters are good you might pair it up. The other obvious thing to be thinking about would be to take both shoals up to 6 from 4. While all of this will be playing with overstocking, it seems quite do-able if your maintenance is good. Honeys should be less territorial and picky than Dwarves.

Thnaks guys, so its between Gourami and Betta but we decided aginst betta because of the guppies so it has to be a gourami? :p

Honey, not dwarf. Honeys are hardier fish than the dwarves, and less territorial.
