Co2 Solenoid

My Aquamedic Pulse solenoid has died on me and I am looking for a replacement.

I have come across Welding solenoid like this

And was wondering if it would be suitable as they are much cheaper that aquarium specific

My main concern would be the length of time to solenoid would be energised for because in a welder they would only be energised for short periods.

I'm not entirely sure if they would work but it seems like there is alot of faffing around to fit them..... if you don't mind waiting a couple weeks there are a few from hong kong which will work probably better.

Not a uk plug but uk voltage, you can just cut the plug and use a uk one though.

YWhy do you think they would not work?

I have seen the solenoids from China/Hong Kong, and they are all the same, made by WYIN. I have done some research and the general concensus is that the are not long lived.

I didn't say they wouldn't work?.... i said it looks like a faff to fit, they don't seen to have internal electrics, so connecting them to an electric source to enable them to work.... i'm no electrician so from here and my point of view, it seems alot of work to get them to fit initially.

As to the 'chinese' manufactured stuff, you will probably find 90% of the stuff sold is chinese made just rebranded for the british market.... yes granted some of the stuff imported isn't the best quality but ive used 'ALOT' of chinese imported stuff over many many years and have had very little problems with them.... however i brought british based stuff and did...swings and roundabouts, you pay for what you get..... your AM solenoid is a relatively expensive one in comparison, yet it has still failed..... ive used many AM stuff and in all honestly, it doesn't stand out much above chinese stuff ive used.
