I have an 80 gallon FOWLR tank-Currently have in there a 5inch clown trigger,3 inch niger trigger,3inch picasso trigger,5inch Harlequin tusk,and a few damsels

I just gave my Undulated Trigger back to the LFS because he was just causing way to much drama and tension in the tank.My niger would not even come out anymore from under the rocks-So bye bye Undulated

Anyway my question is this- I found ths beautiful Hawaian Black Trigger 4-5 inch ad would love to get him-But I don't know if he will buck heads with the Clown?

They are about the same size-I just don't want a repeat off the Undulated-I didn't listen to my friend when he said "dude that fish will cause chaos in your tank"

Also want to get a large angel, powder blue tang, puffer, flame angel-A total of 8 nice size fish-

What do you think-any feedback would be great-Thanks :dunno:

I think that you are overstocked... (The common rule-of-thumb for SW tanks is 1in of fish per 4g of water.) The clown is going to need at least a 125g sometime in the future. The picasso, niger, and other fish should be fine living the rest of their lives in an 80g. As for the hawaiian black... they need a minimum of 90g to live in, so that won't work. "8 nice sized fish" would require a much larger tank than what you currently have. Unless you replace some fish with others, what you have right now (minus the Clown) is all that can be kept in there permanently.

Keep a close eye on the Clown, he could get very aggressive, very quickly and kill everything in the tank. Mine is only 3in long and he's already starting to turn nasty.

Triggerman, that's the name I wanted lol. Triggerfish are my favorite fish by far, salt or fresh. I would agree with these guys and say that your tank would be too crowded. In an 80 you could probably keep the clown and the hawaiian black trigger. You could honestly probably get away with 3 triggers in an 80, even with the clown. I do however think you should be wary of adding the black one at this stage, unless he's going to be slightly larger than the triggers you already have.

There is absolutely no way that you can keep a Clown Trigger in an 80. Their maximum size is around two feet in the wild. In captivity, it's not much less... usually around 20in or so. They are extremely "dirty" fish as well, and have messy eating habits so they can quickly pollute the tank with ammonia. Clown Triggers NEED AT LEAST 125G TO BE HAPPY AND HEALTHY. There is no way, either, that you're going to fit the Hawaiin Black Trigger in that tank, even by itself. It grows way too large and NEEDS AT LEAST A 90G TO BE HAPPY AND HEALTHY. You can go ahead and try if if you like.... but saltwater fish are expensive and it's not wise to experiment with them and try to find out how much they can take.
