And how many could I keep in a 55g comfortably? Do they get along with albino cory? Just thinking about it, mind you.

Depends how long term you want to house them, because they will outgrow it eventually!

I would settle for 6 tiddlers and enjoy watching them grow.. just understand that even 55g wont see them out their lives...

I presently have six clowns in a 240 litre tank. With roof space, sand and ornaments that equates to about 200 litres or 55 US gallons. Smallest is 2 inches long and the largest is four and a bit inches: they are doing very well. While I know that fully grown Clown's will require much more room, they are still living things and don't all necessarily become 16" giants. One of my loaches (the smallest) is four years old and I honestly don't think he is going to grow much more, he must be a runt of the fish world. The largest is only five years old and he will probably be a bit of a problem for me in a few years time but I'll worry when it comes to it. For now, get really little ones and watch them grow as has been said already, they are really cute when they're small.

Oh, and with my clowns I also have cory's (three), diamond tetra's (six) and they don't bother each other at all.

I have four in my 62 gal tank. I got very mixed reviews on keeping them, some saying my tanks too small, numbers not high enough but on the other hand i know people to keep them in similar sized tanks and in similar numbers for 12 yrs plus and have no problems. Im not sure which is right and which is wrong and as i found, looking on the net for many hours the same results some good some bad. Im my personal expirience from the time ive had so far and with other people its a matter of how you look after them and what you house them with, including decors. Again im not saying im right but its just personal expirience. And as said above, they do take a very long time to grow.

The main thing with clown loaches is water quality and then the size of the tank obv making sure its not something stupidly small like a biorb. They can be prone to white spot when they get stressed so make sure your water is in top condition is key. I had my clown loaches in a 200 litre for 2 years have now upgraded to a 450 litre. As already said there incredibley slow growers but eat alot, can somethings see the stomaches bulging. They like hiding places so caves or something to hide in is a must and numbers of 6 and above is best and they will go out sifting though subsrate together looking for food. Really great fish.

Or yo-yos? Basically the same fish just smaller and silver with a black yo yo pattern on them.

Oh, I thought that they got to the me size. How big do yogis get? IMO the striped kuhlis look much more like clown loaches, and kuhlis are the perfect size for your tank

Yoyos max out at 6 inches but usually only get 4-5 inches in captivity

Hmmm, I thought that kuhlis got 4 inches but I don't know because I honestly have neve kept them

Yup, just looked on their profile and they get to be 4-5 inches so they are like the same as yoyos

Yeah kuhlis and yoyos are much smaller and a much better fit for aquaria but instead of selling them instead of clowns at most chains they sell the clowns to people with very unsuitable tanks. Huh. Sigh. But I guess they're really out for the profit and a juvie clown is $10-15 here and a yoyo or khuli is around $4-$6.

So after doing some more research, it's starting to look like yoyos are more in keeping with what my tank should have. They're really great looking fish!

Does anyone know if they get along with cory? I've got a herd of albinos that I'd like to keep in there.
