Im on day 3 of cycling a new 110L tank and noticed today that my water is noticeably cloudier than when I started a couple of days ago. It doesnt look like a bacterial bloom and is more of a white colour than green so its not algae. It looks to my untrained eye that there is an increase in the suspended solids within the water which, given theres nothing in the tank other than the water and filter right now, is curious.

This is the second tank I've cycled within the last couple of months and dont recall seeing such an issue on the first tank but the lighting is much better on the second tank so it could be that its much more visible this time.

Im wondering if its a phosphate or hardness issue. Checking the report for my local water it states that phosphorus is measured at 1190 ug/l P/l and hardness at 107.6 mg/l Ca but without a benchmark its difficult to tell if those levels are high or acceptable.

Anyone any idea?

Nope, I'd still suspect a bacterial bloom or substrate not fully rinsed. WD

I currently dont have any substrate in the tank. It just not like the type of bloom I've experienced before but I suppoes it could be a 'mild' bloom. I'll see if it reduces over the next few days
