I added some new fish to my tank yesterday after dong a 30% water change.
I added water conditioner and some white spot meds to prevent anything from the new fish.
I got up today and the water is a milky color ( prob due to a bacterial bloom )
Anyway the ammonia is 0 nitrite 2 and nitrate 20.
I have done another 30% water change now is there anything else I should be doing.
The fish are all swimming about fine, there is lots of aeriation in the tank and water movement wit live plants.
Thanks for any help

i dont know where to start really, firstly did you dump water conditioner straight in the tank? or did you mix it in a container, secondly i think adding whitespot treatment is ridiculous, you only treat white spot if you have white spot, thirdly you have now changed 60% of your water, i assume it has just cycled, and you did not say how many fish you added, also was the water you added cold straight from the tap, what size is your tank and what do you use as a filter

I mixed the water conditioner in a bucket first
I always treat for whitespot cause the only lfs near me always has tanks with whitespot in it.
I added 6 fish and the water was a mix of hot and cold.
The tank is 14 gallons and I use a fluval 2 filter

ok thanks for returning my questions, i strongly suggest you use a different fish shop if your local 1 has always got white spot, all shops probably get in now and again but rarely all the time, also the conditioner being mixed up in the bucket first is the way to go, you didnt say when the tank cycled, and i am almost possitive your filter either has not cycled or it has crashed, adding 6 fish to a new set up after a 60% water change sounds like the problem, you will need to do lots of small changes now untill the system recovers, i also recommend you do not add any chemicals and just as importantly more fish until things settle down :good:

Thanks the tank was fully cycled before I added the fish and had been for about 6 months.
There is only a couple lfs within travellling distance to me and they are all as bad as each other
Im thinking its a mini cycle after adding the fish and doing a partial water change.
