Cloudiness Won't Go Away....

Hi all, I transferred my tiny 17L to a much biger 106L yesterday (same temp etc. with mature filters, thoroughly washed sand substrate etc.).

The tank was 'slightly' cloudy before the transfer, but nothing really noticeable.

After transfer it became rather misty, this fish don't seem bothered at all, and everything is fine, I waited a few hours, before eventually cracking and adding 20ml of Interpet Filter Aid following the instructions, then left it over night.

Well, its the same this morning, maybe, slightly clearer....

Any ideas on this? or what I could do?

One of my Eheim Liberties came with an activated carbon pad... I'm loathe to use this stuff as I don't want to become dependent on it.... should I add this and see if it polishes up the water?

Sound like a bacterial bloom, big water changes will mke it go away if this is the case. Picture?

Darn thats annoying....

Will have to perform some when I get back from work (Though I am a little worried about stressing the fish further - I take it its just an eyesore and won't harm the fish?)

Large water changes often will clear it up. The carbon should only be used if you're trying to clear medications from the water.

I had this issue early on with my community tank, following advice from this thread cleared it in 24 hours.

Bacterial bloom is usually a sign of ammonia (which might be unreadable on a test kit), have you tested the water? The simplest way to solve it is keep ammonia at 0 ppm, and wait for the bacteria to get up to speed and process the ammonia that's in the water.

I had the same thing when I first set my tank up, went cloudy soon as I put the water in, I done water changes every day for around a week and it cleared up just fine, water is clear now apart from the tannins from the wood.
