Cleaning Gravel

Hello

I have a layer of fertilizer under our gravel. My question is if i use a gravel cleaner, wont the special fertilizer get sucked out of the tank?

Yes it will. Just skim the surface of the gravel, as the plants will use the nutrients from the fish wast as it breaks down. So really there is no need to vac the substrate, just keep the surface tidy.
