Cleaning Gravel

Hey im currently installing my new 3d background (see post in hardware/diy) i need a quick easy way to clean my gravel fully whilst its out of the tank, however im sure tap water would be a bad idea, and i am trying to save as much tank water as possible to return to the tank when silicone has cured and i refill it, any ideas whats the best way to go about cleaning it ??

If you have a mature filter I don't think there would be a problem cleaning it with tap water unless you have an undergravel filter. Just keep running water thru it........

yer filters 8 months old, been running without any problems since start, i may just use tap water then if itys definetly gonna be ok.
