Cleaning Glass With Fish In

I was always told that they were picking at the salt and flakes on skin. I know when tiger barbs do it, it hurts!

most of my tanks are so deep i have a hard time reaching the bottom of the glass, so i use a magnetic glass cleaner, its alot easier too, no need to put your hands/arms in the tank, and no, the fish dont seem to mind
My tank is the same, though it takes so long with a little magnetic cleaner. I just throw myself at the tank every so often, either with a dishcloth or one of those green scouring sponges. Obviously unused ones that I keep just for aquarium use, and not the type scouring sponges with soap in them. Done in seconds. I tend to do it during a water change when I don't have to go shoulder deep in water to reach the bottom.

Almost anybody who has tried to or succeeded in pulling eggs from most cichlids has likely been attacked by the parents. I wonder if your barbs (yes not cichlids) were eating or attacking? They do have a bit of a nasty rep after all.

Do you know if most fw fish eat salt. I have never heard this said nor read about it until your post . Can you provide any sources to regarding this? I am now very curious and don't know the answer? I would even like to read about it on specialty sites if there is no other literature available.

Thanks

I'm sorry to have to do this to you, TTA, but no I don't!

It was something told to me by my late fishkeeping mentor and LFS owner, Chicken George, who I believed unswerving for donkey's years, until new ideas gradually took over in most things. I could have sworn it was in one of my ancient aquarium books, as well, but I've been looking and I can't find it :/
