Bolivian rams sound like a plan mate. Although there is a breeding trio of keyholes on AC for £10. Lol.

What sort of low temps? My GBR's have always been kept in 24 degrees with no ill effects, although I am quite keen on water changes and keep the water quality high.

Around 24oC, I had a wild caught pair last time hence why I kept the temperature higher, I also had breeding intentions, the commercially bred stock can take the lower temperatures better, but what I've seen in my local area is poor quality commercially farmed Rams, they're a lot smaller than they should be even when fully grown, hence why I'd prefer to keep a wild pair, I'm intending to do the same with the Bolivians, with intentions of having a crack at breeding.

Fair enough, for breeding it's worth getting conditions perfect. Good luck :good:

The only thing with Keyholes and Angels is they lack the personality of things like Rainbows, Convicts, Festivums, Firemouths.

How about get yourself a pair of Honduran Red Points? they are always in demand and breed very easily, not to mention being pretty, interactive and interesting to watch (espech when they have fry)

Yeah my hrp's are brilliant to watch! Their colours, especially the females is out standing!!

Hmm.. an Elliot Cichlid would be great, if you want a lot of personality. They're very similar to Firemouth's but don't get as big and are slightly different coloured. You wouldn't be able to keep more than one of them in a 125L though.

Festive cichlids are also full of personality and although not colourful they are still a very nice fish which appreciates plants. These stay more to the top of the water so you could probably keep one and a keyhole with some cories, these would work very well together. They also wouldn't be bothered by (or bother) a shoal of fish such as silvertip tetras, cardinals, neons, glowlight tetras, small barb...etc...

In my opinion this would be good for your size tank:
1xKeyhole Cichlid
1xFestive Cichlid
7xLemon Tetras
4/5xSmall Corydoras e.g Peppered or Julii
4xOtocinclus

OR

1xElliot Cichlid
7xLemon Tetras
4/5xSmall Corydoras
1xBristlenose

These lists can obviously be altered to your taste, they are just a rough outline of what you could stock.

Good Luck and enjoy your tank and fish,

The fish in you signature are absolutely beautiful! What are they?

On the other hand, I am thinking my Ellioti is too big for my 3ft 180 litre tank nevermind a 125.

If you mean my signature, it's my Ellioti :hyper: he's a beautiful fish. (Just copied for the signature). Yeah I guess they're quite large but 32" is long enough for one to get a good swim, 2 would be pushing it due to territory.
