Cichlid Competition ?

I have seen that certain sections of this board have monthly competitions. So what do you think to having a New World Cichlid photo comp. Just for fun with no prizes, I don't mind sorting it out if there is enough interest.

Sounds fun, I would fancy sorting out the winners though lol there are just too many beautiful cichlids about. I have a picture I would like to enter though, do we post them on here or as nelly asked a seperate thread?

prob best to start it in pic section, as not every cichlid owner goes into this section, then theres the old world folk, who should be given a chance, i recon you should make it a post you picture only thread and ask people to refrain from commenting

I would strongly suggest you ask the moderators/admin permission before doing this, in the past these competitions have turned ugly and many times people have asked for these to be reinstated but the answer has remained no.

I think a harmless comp is fine aslong as its kept mature.

The comp should have different monthly winners...

If you would bother to read the link I posted you would see that the Moderating Team is considering competitions set up and run by the mods and admins. We are working on the details of this right now.

If you read the link you would also understand why they were discontinued long ago. The mods & admins have more tools available to deal with any situations should they arise. We also have better access to promotion of the competition and awards to the winner.

Well while the mods sort out a possible official competition, hows about we all stick of the best photo's we can manage of NW cichlids? That no different from the range of, "look at my new additions," threads we see every day - not a competition. I've got a limited interest in photography and couldn't care less what the outcome of a competition is, but I'm looking for inspiration and I think seeing some of peoples favourite photos of their NW cichlids would be beneficial to me and any others considering adding to their tanks at some point in the future. Even browsing this part of the forum has opened my eyes, but I think that would be even better.

With a title like, "Showing off my new worlds," nobody could complain. Any takers whilst the mods sort something official?
