So I got home from being out of town this week and check on my tank. My blue zebra seems to have a little chunk missing out of his side. He is swimming fine, and eating like a champ. Just curious if anyone can look at this video a tell if it's a bite from a fight maybe? He is the alpha in the tank so maybe he got into with the newly introduced rusty's.

Just did full water tests
Ammonia = 0
Nitrite = 0
Nitrate = 20
PH: 7.6-8.0

I think he was attacked

This is getting worse, looks like his poop is coming out of this sidehole. Definately looks like poop and not worms, this really isn't recoverable is it? may have to euthanize.

Put some aquarium salt in the water, it will help the wound heal ad not get infected. If he is listless and stops eating then euthinize him

Can't salt due to Pleco. Water quality is good, may add some melafix. He is active and eating right now. Just a little upset as he is the one that catches the eye in the tank

Pleco's hate salt? I use a teaspoon in my 29 gallons and my clown pleco doesn't seem to mind it

yup, they are intolerant of it and it has major bad effects on them
as far as the situation, right now it sounds very bad. your best choice to to separate him, do 25% water changes daily, and add a very well working medicine

Ok I will stop putting it in my tank. -.-

He's in a breeder, I just don't think he can survive this now that it's into his bowel.

Then the best thing to do is humanly euthenize him. :'(

Poor fish. I wouldn't kill him though. Especially if he is acting normally. Let nature decide whether he lives or dies. Do your best, add some strong fast working meds, do daily water changes and hopefully a miracle can happen.

I am going to wait it out I just feel horrible cuz I know it can't feel good. He is still very active though.

Are you medicating him? Do put some medication, hopefully it will help. If he is active he may be feeling ok or at least wants to live.

Edit: There is nothing to feel horrible about. It's not your fault. Put the meds to try to cure him and don't look at him. If it is bad, he won't torture your sight for a long time. If he heals, then you will feel like you've done the best thing in your life.

Yes will be doing melafix as he is in the main tank and I don't want to affect anyone else
