I have noticed over the last week or so chlorine smell from my tap water and it seems to be getting stronger. I suspect that due to all the rain the water company is adding more to the water supply to be safe. I have not noticed any difference in my tanks but it has made me wonder about adding slightly more dechlorinator for the extra chlorine.

It is something I have never thought about, I use the dechlorinator as per the instructions x amount per L, but if the amount of chlorine has increase would you need to use more dechlorinator?

i think adding slightly more wouldn't be a bad thing.i'm pretty sure you'd have to slam a shed load in there to overdose it,but still be careful of course.

There must be a test kit for it? that would indicate exactly what you'd want to be dosing.

I'm using raw Sodium Thiosulphate making up my own solution at the minute and dosing for chlorine at 2ppm which is over the top and still safe.

Email your water company and ask them what the reading are that's what i done. they might not be totally up to date but will give you something better to aim for.

Dechlorinator is quite difficult to overdose on, I'm pretty sure. Using double should be safe. I don't suppose you could aerate for 24 hours as well?
