Chinese Algae Eater Help

Well thanks to the great advice on this forum iv discovered the local tropical fish dealer has given me a chinese algae eater for my community tank. Iv been told on here that when he gets older he will become more aggressive and start attacking the other fish. I really dont know how a professional could reccomend this to me as he knew im a beginner but he did

Now iv got hold of a smaller side tank and dont really want to get rid of him but dont want him with my others. can anyone reccomend anything to put in with him that wont be threatened or dangered by him? even if its just one fish i just dont want him on his own. If not and he really should be on his own il make my peace with that but id love to put him with something else

can anyone help me out?

Corydoras are fine with mine. . he was sold to me as a community fish. This is why in nowadays you have to rely on your own knowledge rather then theirs.

yeah iv got angels thats my worry

so he'll be ok with my mollies swordtails plec and cory's just the angels thats the worry?

Although this is said by many fishkeepers. it rarely happens. my golden sucking loach is fine with my big slow lace gourami. but yes it is said.

Anything small and fast should be ok. It's the slime they suck on so if the fish is too small to get a grip on it should be ok.

Ok so if i put him in a smaller tnk with a few rocks and plants etc then put a few neon tetra etc in there he should be fine

Someone correct me if I'm wrong but I think CAEs can get pretty large. What size is this smaller tank?

iv been told they get no bigger than around 8cm really

this new tank i believe is around 13inches wide

scrap that just seen they can get around 11inches long

Might have to invest in a 2nd bigger tank then. seperate the angels and plec into the bigger tank and keep the roach with the mollies and corys etc

How recently were you sold this? You've been missold something. I'd make it the retailers problem myself. Why should you now fork out for a 30 gallon tank to house a fish you expected to be completely different? Shops do make me cross!

had it a week now

To be honest i think he's pretty young and is ok for now while eating in the tank etc but when he gets older he'll be a proble. hopefully by then il have a lot better knowledge of fishkeeping and have a bigger tank and get all this sorted

luckily there all young now so i have a bit of time to gather advice and know the right thing to do

They make everyone cross. they tend to max out at about 5" thir size is commonly over exageratted
