Hi all,

I was hoping a few of you might have a recommendation for a chiller for me... I have a 29-gallon cube tank with an integrated hood (lights are mounted inside of it) so keeping the hood open to cool the water isn't much of an option (I also have a cat who would LOVE to go fishing if left open). My building gets very warm year round and I have a hard time keeping the water below 83F, which is making a few of my plants unhappy.

Because of the hood, I'd have to rule out using fans, so an inline chiller might be my only option. I'm hoping not to spend a fortune, but I want something that will last a while, too. Any suggestions?

I cant advise you on any particular brand of chiller, all I can say is that your better off getting an oversized chiller rather than one that only just manages to deal with the volume of your tank. Most chillers only bring a tank down 1 or 2 degrees so having one that just barely meets your tanks water volume is never going to work really well.

There was a thread about this recently. I think it was Vethian came up with a solution, but I can't find the thread again. I'm sure it was in the last 2 months.

Baccus, thanks... makes sense. I'm hoping to bring it down to at least 79F, that's four degrees.

Munroco, I did search the topic but couldn't find the answer I was looking for. I'll keep digging...
