Hello all!

I was just about to do a water change right now and noticed that my male cherry barb and one of the 4 females have decided to start breeding. I have never seen this before and I don't know what to do. I am not really asking about how to actually raise the eggs and fry, I just want to know if I just leave them be. I don't have the setup to actually raise the eggs.

How long should I leave them before I need to be worried about the female getting exhausted? He is chasing her like crazy. Do I just separate the male from the rest for some time?

At what point in the process do the eggs come?

Here is a video I took. I know my tank has some serious algae issues, I am working on it.

once they finish spawning they and your other fish will eat the eggs /fry the chances of seeing any of them survive is very slim
