Changing Water How Often ?

I do a 20 - 25% change every week as I am quite heavily stocked. I've always been told to do this even if your not heavily stocked though

I agree with Ava - depends on size, filtration, inhabitants...
I stick to 20-30% every 7-10 days with vacuuming. I top off once during the 7-10 days using dechlorinated water.

I do 20 - 25% & a gravel vac once a week in my community tank and about 50% and a gravel vac once a week in Percy's tank. Reason for the big change on the small tank isn't so much the water stats as the fact that the mopani wood stains the water and I don't like it!!

Hi, I do a 30ltr. water change every 5 days in my 155ltr. tank., gravel vac'ing at the same time. Clean 1st stage (fine) media each time. Rest of filter, in stages, when it looks real grubby :good:

I do 25% once a week on most of my tanks, but then I also do an extra 15%halfway through the week on the tank that my female bristlenose shares with the corys; I'm worried about her messing up their substrate.

25% a week is ideal...

You need to use your own judgement if the tank is stocked with lots of messy fish you need to do it more often, if your very lightly stocked with low waste fish you can let it slide....

as a rule our non special tanks get a 25-30% water change weekly make sure you vac the substrate as you do this

Thanks all , I have done a 25% water change & gravel vac every week for 1 1/2 years , dropped it to water change every week & gravel vac every 2 weeks , no change , so will stick with that.

was not ignoring you , just wanted to see different opinions . :good:
