Since Chai's finrot hasn't been getting any better, I've been looking for solutions, but nothing's worked. I thought that it was ammonia levels, and so I've been doing 50% changes once a day for the last 2 days. Luckily, today my new test kit turned up, and here are the results I got..

Quite a high PH, no ammonia, no nitrite and a little nitrate.
I'm now putting the tank on another course of Myxazin. Hopefully it'll start to clear up soon! I'll try to keep you guys updated, and I'll hopefully use this thread to track his progress myself, too!

I recomend this
Sera Baktopur
i used it once and it rid of it in like 7 days,
you could see a change

however i did use the tablets not liquid
its baktopur direct for the tablets, they seem hard to come by

None at all. I was so confused.
His tail fin healed a little bit, but then the brown came back and holes started to appear.
The water changes helped a little bit, but now I've tested the water I can keep an eye on it and hope that the next course of myxazin helps him out much more :good:

And Asteria, thank you for the recommendation! I'll look into it if Chai shows no improvement in the next few weeks :good:

no problem :D
if you cant seem to find them im more than happy to get some for you and ship them over
you wont find them online so much so check some good LFS

That's very kind of you!
I'm hoping the myxzain will work, though. It's worked on my girl upstairs and within 2 days she's already healing. I have no idea why it isn't working for Chai!
Hopefully we'll see some improvement in the next few days. :)

Have you tried moving him to a separate tank?
I found I had to do this to treat them. Bare bottom tank with just a heater and plant for cover. Easier to keep the water perfectly clean?

I don't have another tank, nor do I have anywhere to put one (though I'm sure I could find somewhere if my mum just let me look around )
I was just saying that if I didn't see any improvement, I could move Chai into my 64L (putting him in a divided section to keep him and Shrimp separate). Shrimp's fins improved within 2 days of her being in there, but I wouldn't want to hurry to put him in. I'll only do this as a very last resort.

Even just a tub, will only be short term. My spare room is full of wilkinsons tubs :haha:

Okay. I'll keep him in his tank for a bit, though. I'm hoping the myxazin will start to work soon. :/
Why does the bare bottomed tank help?
