Catching Fast Fish?

Got a new home for my 3 zebra danio, 4 black neon tetra, and a couple of mollies.

The mollies practicly jump in the net, the other 7, i cant do it! After 45mins, i quit to not stress the whole tank.

How should i be doing this? im using two nets, one smaller, just not happening.

I quit to not stress MYSELF when getting rid of my old fish, never mind stressing the fish!

Two nets worked for me, a little one to distract them (push them towards the bigger net). And scoop them with the big net. Took me a while but that was the only thing I could get to work, tried food and all sorts!

Have you tried a jug? Ive always found a clear plastic jug and very slow movements works a treat on Danios and such. You should also try to remove as much water from the tank as possible.

lol zebra danios are really hard to catch, one best way is, have a one big net on one side, and have another net other side trying to make them go toward to the big net,

or also put some frozen food inside of the big net under water and wait to see if zebras will go to get food, then just simply get em out...

Lowering the water level combined with two nets should do the job. I can remember trying to catch my Pearl Danios for the first time in a full Rio240 with one net, very stressful for me and the fish, could not stop worrying about them while out all afternoon because they were hyperventilating!

Never had Danios but I heard theyre really fast. What I did once to catch my Arulius Barb in my 6ft tank, I didnt even drain any water, I use a tank divider from my smaller tanks and a net, kept moving the divider n net closer n closer to the Barb til he has very little place to go. Still took me awhile tho, wish the tank divider was bigger.

Probably easy to lower the water n use 2 nets, it took me 25 pails to fill up the tank, I aint lowering the water

Lowering the water level, taking all the decor out and the biggest nets you can fit in your tank. With schooling fish the trick is to round them up into a group and then swipe through them to get them all in.

Try no to make any sharp movements with the net otherwise if your chasing them with the net there going to keep swimming away, try and corner them at the front of the tank by slowly moving them there with the net, slowly position the net behind the fish not to startle it then quickly bring the net towards the front glass using that to your advantage, all you now do is keep the pressure of the net against the glass while bringing it to the surface, once at the surface tip the net back and hey presto one caught fish.
