Ok ive had mixed feelings on this, some people say why bother buying the proper stuff as cat litter works, then others saying its going to be there a long time spend money on it. So what should i do?

Yesterday i bought some play sand and also got some cat litter. They didnt have fullers earth so I got pets at home 100% natural clay, will this be okay for under the sand? It says it has 'odour control' on the back though.

100% clay cat litter is fine, thats the same as what I used, and it is the same as the tropica stuff, it's just clay, over time it becomes more nutritious, ignore the critics, because they probably haven't used it, I have and it's brilliant.

add a 1cm layer of Cat litter, then about 5cm of sand at the front sloping to 7cm at the back, then fill the tank with airline to ensure minimal disturbance.

Should i put the airline underneath the sand with the block ontop of the sand or . . . . ? do i need to wash the cat litter or just dump it in the tank?

What I did was siphon the water through the airline and wave the airline about as to not disturb one area, this worked well for me, and I found leaving it in one spot disturbed it too much, once it starts to fill up, use a filled jug and lower it into the tank, but do not empty it, push it down so it displaces the water and then empty it, whilst it is still in place, that way you get minimal disturbance, the cat litter does not need washing, so just place it into the bottom of the tank.

im just about to put my cat litter in now, ive just noticed that its '100% clumping clay cat litter' does it matter that its 'clumping' ?
