Have 5 cardinals and 5 black neons with hopefully 4 corys coming on Monday.

Here's a recent video and some (poor quality) photos;

The Cardinals are pretty shy, will hide behind the plants at any movement near the tank. The black neons are fairly confident, quite greedy with the food too.

Water is showing consistent zeros, nitrate has dropped off towards 0 too.

Looks very effective. Nice looking fish. The plants look great too.

Corys will be better off on sand also as course gravel such as your can harm the barbels which may leave them susceptible to infections and diseases.

You might find that the cardinals are less shy if you get another 2-3 each of them and the black neons.

Lovely tank! I adore the black neons and cardinals. I do think that the plant on the left side, the green and yellow one is not aquatic and will eventually die and rot.

I'm planning on getting some sand to create some small sandy regions in the tank.

The plant is coming close to being removed, it's not looking healthy, so will probably take it out soon.

i would

Just a comment on the cories

No doubt they prefer sand, but, provided your gravel is rounded and smooth (looks like your using pea gravel) and not rough at all, there will be no barbel damage (they just won't be able to root as much).

If you were to add sand, it would almost certainly just disapear in that reather deep gravel bed....

New false julii cories, hiding under the heater. Need to get the gravel cleaner under there! Hopefully the garras that are coming will clean it up too.
