So I have some tetras thatā€™s I havenā€™t had for long and one is looking pretty fat... lol from what I see online itā€™s hard to tell the male and female apart so I donā€™t know if itā€™s a female. And if it is a female I also read it was hard for tetras to spawn in a normal tank?

My red eyed tetras (2 female and 3 male) had 12 fry that grew up to be adults in a 55 gallon tetra tank in a 3 month period. I had plenty of plants and dark areas for them. I also had ember, glowlight and neon tetra in the tank but so far no fry.

It's not spawning that's difficult, it's getting fry.
Many tetra eggs need darkness to develop; many tetra eggs need soft acid water to develop; most fish will eat any egg they find, or any fry if the eggs survive long enough to hatch.
