In my recent aquarium I used black gravel. I have got a new aquarium and need to (obviously) put gravel inside. However, I put my old black gravel (from old tank) on my patio and was wondering that if I thoroughly washed it could I reuse it my new aquarium? Any suggestions would be great.

Thanks,

The parasites you'd have in your garden won't be aquatic, so they won't grow in your tank, or harm anything in there. Wash it and give it a soak in some really, really hot water (but don't boil it!) and it'll be quite safe.

The only reason you shouldn't use it would be if you were using a lot of pesticides in your garden.

They would have died off, and any new disease in the gravel can probably be taken care of with hot water and a little salt. Make sure you rise the gravel well if you do that.  But chances are there isn't anything in the dry gravel that can hurt wet fish. ;) :)
