Can Platies Have Swords?

no wonder he doesn't like my red wag lyretail swordtail (thats a mouthful lol)

Swordtail males can be a bit competitive so a minor conflict between your mickey mouse sword and your red wag sword is not too unusual. Often one or the other fish ends up being the dominant male in a tank and the other just stays out of his way. The dominant male then gets most of the access to the females, except when he is too busy with one female to protect another female from the other male.
It seems that all males must make choices, even swordtails.

well, they seem to be trying to kill eachother, ripping of scales and nipping fins ect. so i removed the lyretail and put him in my 30g
