Well I started on the 7th with putting a little fish food in my tank to cycle it... I have been looking for ammonia to do it that way but an not find it so far. ( small town )

Anyone kow where I can get it online?? SHould I just keep tring to do the fish food thing? I have had it running for two weeks. I can feel stuff building up on tank and smell the fish smell from the food. When I test its 0 for everything. . So should I keep going with the fish food ..

Thanks for stopping and reading..

I got mine from Amazon in the end, and many others get it from eBay. The Kleenoff stuff is fine.

The postage always seems a bit high (I ended up paying around £5 for my bottle after postage) but remember you'd waste that in petrol trying to find the stuff so it works out the same.

thanks I will check it out. I have a prime acount MAYBE I can find it offered with the prime...So Kleenoff is the brand :)

Any brand of ammonia is fine (as long as the only ingredient is ammonia, although chelating agents are okay), but the Kleenoff stuff tends to be the easiest stuff to find.

I found a Pure Bright brand

Champion Packaging CH112 Extra-Strength Ammonia

James Austin Co 51 Clear Ammonia 64oz

DO any of those ring a bell .. Its hard to know if you can not read ingredients

Another dead end. Now they can not ship to me.. grrr I tried our local ace . They did not have any. I will have to call around out of town.... This rate I will never get this tank up and running.

I used Great Value brand from Wal-Mart. It appears that most say it is okay to use, and some say it is not. My tank cycled perfectly in 21 days, and I had no problems with it at all. My bottle says Ammonium Hydroxide and Surfactant. Contains no Phosphurus.
Some may disagree, but like I said, I had no problems what-so-ever.

21 days is actually quite fast. I have a 2 year old and 5 year old and very little patience myself, so I feel your pain! My girls kept running to the tank and saying "where's the fishies, mommy?" But, no fish for awhile will be better than dead fish later, so it is well worth it.
