as the titoe suggests, i m wondering if i can use this type of pump in my fish room? Its much cheaper than aquarium and pond pumps! But maybe the materials used will effect my water? It wont be on constantly, just during water changes.

I am looking at the submersible pumps on this page

Personally, I attach a power head to a hose to siphon water out, then attach to the tap to get water back in. Nice and easy to do, cheap and the only special equipment you need is the power head, which is smaller and cheaper than one of those I'm sure. There's a link in my signature where I did a write up of the system if you wanna have a look :)

I had something similar in my 5ft aquarium, with a poower head in my tank pushing the water rather than creating a syphon. But this is for my fish room. I need a large pump to lift treated water 2m into a network of pipes that will fill my aquariums.
