Once the sand has settled aslong as there are no fish or the tanks cycled/cycling in there then it will be fine for that long switched off

I would switch it back on now then so the filter bacteria doesnt dye of any your tank have to be cycled again.

You only need to wait 5 minutes or so after putting sand in as the heavy particles sink almost instantly all that's clouding the water is dust and won't damage your filter.
