Can Fish Have Fits?

So far then ruled out internal parasites with the poo being a normal brown colour.
External parasites with no flicking and rubbing, excess mucas, laboured breathing.

That leaves bacterial, ph, toxins.
But if other fish are ok I doubt it's ph, or toxins.

I know animals can get brain infections.
What about issolating him and using antibiotics.

Do you feed live tubilex worms.

Just want to ask to make sure I got it right.
The fish jumps and hits the tank lid before it starts to swim in circles.

today he was quite still in the water just minding his own business when he shot straight up and out the tank like he was being chased. After hitting the hood he tore about the tank at a hundred miles an hour. He kept ramming himself into the filter before finally racing to the bottom of the tank and hid in a plant. When i say hid i mean he burrowed himself in. Nothing was near him when it happened. Its very distressing. To look at him now he's perfectly happy. It takes more out of me than him. i never feed any of my fish live food as it isn't available. They rarely get frozen bloodworm. I do put in cucumber and algae wafers as well as flake.

what sort of anti biotics can i buy for fish? I'm desperate now. He just knocked himself out for a full five minutes . He's now swimming about like nothing has happened. I'm so upset. I dare anyone to say its just a fish to me. I.ve kept fish for many many years and this has got me so beaten. He can't go on like he is. Its not fair on him. just had another turn. Til i've heard back from you he's in isolation with nothing in the tank but a heater. He's back to normal again but god knows for how long. I'll buy clove oil tomorrow because i don't have enough to euthanise him. It's gonna be hard to do it to a normal looking fish . If i can get the medicine tomorrow i will.

and one final time. My partner agreed to do the kindest thing if he fitted one more time and he had another fit at half twelve then another about 10 minutes ago so he's gone. . I am devastated. Thank you so much for your help. On reading stuff on the web i'm pretty sure it was neurological.

I agree I think it was the kindest thing to do.
It's awful watching them. I had to put a fish out of his misery to the samething.

I had a phobia at one point so I know how you feel it's awful.
When I had depression I was afraid to go out. Got over it now. But it wasn't easy.

thanks wilder. Went and bought a tiny little golden gourami today. He won't replace the one i lost but he'll bring back the colour to the tank. He's extremely feisty and trying to attack my old syno. Lol.

its so nice to have people say sorry. Too many don't understand and think they are only fish. Some of them though have their own unique personalities and i grieve when i lose them. Thank you all. I'm sure the new little guy who is just so full of himself will live a long happy life chasing everything like a puppy chasing a ball. Ann. X
