Why would you want to? It seems to me that not only is a silly keeping goldfish when you've plainly opted for a tropical tank, there's also going to be competition from food. People say fancies and commons shouldn't be kept together, most tropicals are just as fast, if not faster, than commons and can be just as nasty.

Keeping coldwater and tropical fish in the same tank means a compromise; you can't give BOTH sets of fish their optimum conditions. I just can't see the point of keeping fish if you can't give them the very best conditions they need. Goldfish also carry parasites.
