guys this little fella is listed as a jewel cichlid but after looking on the internet im not conviced is he or is he not as jewel cichled ?

Can see them now. Looks like a jewel to me. It's got a deformed nose though...

Its a jewel but has a deformed nose.

I wouldn't have thought so, it looks very healthy other than that.

There is a thread in the picture section by crazy airborne and his Rainbows and one of his youngsters caught his nose in the filter intake so has the same shaped nose as your jewel.

Yeah its a deformed Jewel - Walkers101 had a Severum with a similar problem. Realistically fish with this kind of deformity should have been culled after hatching... In the wild it would not have survived, but Im sure you can give him a good home

i'll try i'm just hopeing it won't cause any problems thanks im going to mail walkers101 and se if his fish neeeded any special treatment of some sort

If the fish has got to that size most likely its fine, just feed smaller food than normal so it doesnt struggle to eat, keep a check on how hard it works to breath, with facial deformities it might not be able to get a good flow of water over its gills so you may need to have good o2 in your water. Its what I do with my oscar with a busted up face he is fine
