can i submerge my heater completely in the water? there is a line on the side labeled "water level"...i've kept the water there so far...i dont wanna break the heater or allow electricity in the water...any help?

depends on the heater...some are can be submersed others may not...best to check the manual...or post what type of heater it is...

 in the pic on the box, its submerged, also the water lever shouldnt be below the water line...ok sorry everyone for bearing with my stupidity...thanks Agutt

If it is one of the heaters with a sealed top, it cannot be allowed to get dry above that line and can be fully submerged. If it is one designed to hang on the back of the tank, it still cannot be allowed to dry out below that line but would be unsafe to submerge in the tank. The top of a heater designed to hang on the back will allow water to run right down inside if it gets under water.

well my heater is under the water and abit of the cord is under to...

personally i think that it doesn't matter how far down u go... or if the cord is under with it to.

I still see the hang on the back of the tank in really cheap kits so it is worth mentioning. Anyone trying to sell one of those outside of a kit would get gray hair before one sold but that doesn't mean you will never see one. I picked up a used tank 2 weeks ago that had one in the stuff that came with the tank.
