Okay, I'M ONLY CONSIDERING OPTIONS AT THIS STAGE (just to clarify).

I have a Jewel cichlid that I think is a bit stressed from lack of territorial interactions (basically bored to death). I've been trying to think of other AFRICAN RIVERINE cichlids that I could add to give it a bit of competition and keep it active.

Now I'm thinking a feather fin may be a good option. Tough, sizeable (too big?), territorial with age, and fits perfectly with theme.

Any thoughts?

This is the tank by the way:

WAY too big. My friend purchased one of these for her 125 Gallon and within 6 months, this guy is about 7 inches. They get 8-9 inches I believe.

The tank is really cool though, looks great!

My friend's featherfin tends to hang out and hide most of the day, but has a couple different nooks in her 125 gal that he will dart to and from.  IMHO a 30 gallon is completely too small. Not only do these guys get 8-9 inches long, but their dorsal gets pretty tall as well, they need much more room. But again, that's MO.
