Hi All,
Here is the outline of my situation I have a natural pond which I plan to clear of overhanging trees and stuff and create a normal pond. I would like to use my garden koi pond as a tropical pond so was thinking of using this natural pond as my koi pond. No power supply possible to the site as it is in one of my fields but its not small. My grandfather lives in South Africa and is known all over the continent for his AAA Grade 1 meter long koi with a multitude of colour variations and are all pure bred sakai bloodline koi from japan. All my koi are from his farm so are big but i currently only have 5 and would like to get some more imported but am not shore if this pond would be ok. I plan to clear the outer edges but leave distant trees for some shade and might leave 1 piece of dead tree in the water aas a natural feature. I will deepen the pond to atleast 1.2m or more and will add masses of oxygenator. Any will be feeding a high quality koi mix, specially mixed by the sakai family and my grandfather. My questions is basically this would they survive?, would they breed?
