I am playing with buying a second hand or DIY calcium reactor, because i'm lazy and I don't want to do a 2 part add haha.

Does anyone know how much CO2 these actually use? Is it possible to hook up a 15-18oz paintball CO2 tank with regulator to the calcium reactor?

To clarify, i am PLAYING with the idea of a calcium reactor. This is for the future if I decide to go heavy SPS. ATM the calcium/alk/mag is keeping up with reef crystal waterchanges. Just gathering intel for the future.

You can get pure food grade C02 in 6.5 KG canister over here in the Uk. You pay a £30 deposit for the bottle, which you would get back. Then the gas itself is £13.
Branded 1kg bottles here are sold in LFS for £30-40. This is the best way by far imo

You CAN use the paintball cylinders, but you have to adapt them strangely and fills are expensive compared with say a 20lb bottle... If you can do it, go with a larger size, if not, you CAN use them
