Buying Water From Lfs

down my lfs at the weekend and saw they sale water. Says it is chemical free filtered water specifically for tanks. Ideal for water changes, new tanks etc.

Is this recommended or more of a sales gimmic?

it's probably RO water.

you use it if you keep marine or discus.

for 'normal' fish it's pretty pointless, it removes a load of the stuff the fish need so you end up adding loads back in, it'll also have a really low ph which is bad for many many fish.

Hi, I have been using water from the LFS for years as the tap water in my area is s**t. We don't drink it so I wouldn't expect my fish to swim in it! Nitrate went through the roof after water changes with de chlorinised tap water. The LFS add minerals for an extra 50p but I found it cheaper to buy a bottle and add my own.
