Buying Bettas Online?

Thanks!

You know, I love that initial reaction when you first put them in the tank, and they're all like "woah, I can move... and what's all this stuff around me.... um... uh.... **FLARE**"

Lol, I love that too =) With my first betta (who is set up on the computer desk, and watching me like I'm crazy or something) I set him free in his new tank, and the first thing he did was swim in a complete circle, trying to look in all directions at once. It was so funny.

My new boy did that too. :D
Though at first he was really still, probably making sure nothing was gonna eat him! Then checked everything out, flared at things, bullied a couple little snails, just to show who's boss. :hyper:

I didn't know I was getting another betta, either. lol

Went to walmart to check out their tank selection (needed a new ten gallon for the new snail), and all the way in the back of the betta display is this poor forgotten betta who hadn't been touched in at least a week. The others all looked great; just this one was in bad shape..... You know you've been doing this too long when don't get the nice pink one that originally caught your eye, you buy the poor pathetic thing with fin rot, just because you can't leave it there. He should be fine - he likes the ten gallon. He's a really nice pink/blue mix, and looks kind of "antiqued" with some beige mixed in here and there. The tank is pretty barebones at the moment, but as I get paid over the next few weeks, I'll flush it out with decorations and fake plants, add more gravel, probably move the three loaches into it (larger footprint than the other one), and get it it's own stand.

They are really addictive.

That's basically Cabaret's story. Except he was on display, and I felt obligated to rescue him, instead of get the little female I wanted. But you know, I ended up with both...

those initial reactions are great. i have one that STILL flares up at everything (people, reflections, lamps, betta pellets, fake plants, paperclips, etc.) though i've had him for over a month. you can see a picture of him in my signature (he's poseidon)... but, as much as i tried, i couldn't get him to flare up for the picture. go figure. anyhow, he cracks me up, wearing himself out trying to intimidate my lamp into submission... what a trooper.
