Toby made yet ANOTHER bubble nest yesterday, and Sushi made one overnight. Wow. I didn't expect for them to both make bubblenests so quickly....especially Sushi! I've only had him for three days. I think it may be because they are competing.....I've been trying to keep them seperate, so I moved Sushi somewhere Toby couldn't see him. Yet, he still made a second bubble nest and Sushi made his first one. I'm not going to mate either of them anytime soon.....

Here are my two other questions:

Toby has become a lot more energenic and happy looking since I got Sushi. He swims around much more, he swims after my finger and his own special chain.....he eats as soon as I feed him and sometimes tries to nibble on my finger! He never did this before I brought Sushi home. Is this because he's trying to get all the attention or something?

My other question is if I'm feeding them correctly. I feed them a tiny piece of Red Grub in the morning, another tiny piece when I got home from sxhool, and another tiny piece around 7-8:00pm. Ist his underfeeding them, overfeeding them, or is this just fine?

Thanks for your help everybody.

booooooooooooooo your betta bowls are too small

-_- If you paid any attention in my other topic, I ordered them a spilt 2.5 gallon tank. And this topic is NOT about my bowls, alright? If you don't have helpful advice or anything to say about the topic, then just don't post.

Haven't go any pictures yet, but I'll be taking some later when I get home from school. They aren't MAJOR bubblenests, but I can tell that they put a lot of effort into making them. :D

 when i got Royal the other day he made a nest then Blaze my older male insisted on making one bigger, it was quite funny to watch them building and Blaze flareing too. good news about the new tank too, we need more pics :good:

Yay! They are making their mommy proud :good: My little boy is fighting columnaris right now but I was excited to see him build his mommy a bubble nest after his first day of meds, it's as if he's saying "mommy I'm starting to feel better!" hehe

Sometimes a little competition can be the reason they start blowing bubblenests like mad. When I was trying to spawn one of my males and he wouldn't get going on the nest...I put a competing neighbor on the other side of the female! Needless to say, he got his rear in gear, and therefore got his prize. So yeah, it could be competition, but they're probably just happy go lucky :)

Pearl wont build another nest since i accidently destroyed his first while cleaning, i think hes mad at me!

but its driving me mad, Skie looks like shes about ready to pop and he just wont build her a nest, maybe i need a new boy for a competition too.

Allthetime~

Have you tried floating someting like a sanitized lid or styrafoam on the waters surface? That's the only way my blueberry would make one for the longest time

Yes. For most of the time, boys will build bubble nests for competition as if saying, "I'm better at you!" or "Look at what I can do!" Surely this is what happened with my Toby and Sushi. I ruined their nests though today while clenaing their bowls, but I bet they will be making new ones soon.

I suggest that if you really want Skie to build a bubble nest, get another boy and put them close to eachother (though in seperate tanks) to build tension. Might not work %100 of the time.
