Brownish Water

So my last tank I used to find the water wasn't so clean looking but tested perfect, its was slightly brown tinge to it,
I put this down to the inbuilt juwel corner filter not being up to the load.

However having now had my new tank and filter up for over 3 weeks and having had no wood in it the water was crystal clear, so I took the chance and reintroduced the bogwood, now having had it in for 4 days I've noticed the water isn't as clear. The wood was in my old tank for months and was prepared soaked in hot water for a week before adding it to this new tank.

I read that active carbon could help with water colour but is there any other options.

Forgot to say tank is 125L and runs a fluval u3.
All other parameters are good, just the colour.

It's normal, nothing to do with the filter, the wood releases tannins, they will lower your PH and are beneficial to fish so wont hurt, I think they look quite good.

normally worth soaking the bogwood in water and change the water often for a couple of weeks.
but even then you get a little brownness in the water.
As you have it in the tank now it wont do any harm as such and the water will clear after time with water changes.

Fair enough, its just looked really good when the water was so clear but if this is good for the fish then it stays, makes the tank look better aquascaped too!

my wood took nearly 3 months before it stopped leaching, some people say a soak in hot water gets rid of it all. eventually it will stop, just keep doing your water changes as normal, and eventually you'll realise your tank isnt looking brown anymore. i also quite liked the look.

i put 5 pieces of mopani wood in my rio 180 (with the original in-built filter running including the carbon sponge) and the water was brown to quite a high extent at first. gradually lessened with each water change (i do 50% weekly) then i changed the carbon sponge about 5 weeks after introducing the wood and, coupled with that water change, the water was crystal clear. it now tends to stay pretty much clear but the water still has a slight brownish tint to it come 'change day.'
