Hi all,
Tank has been running for around 3 weeks has no livestock planted with dwarf hair grass and aqua soil, starting to get really bad brown algae. I’ve cycled several other tanks and not had this problem. Any thoughts on how to deal with this?
Lights on roughly 10 hours a day

That slimy stuff on your wood is pretty normal and not harmful, it shouldn't come back if you remove it by hand....as for diatoms, just keep going with water changes and they'll go away on their own eventually

Agree. I find effective to use a toothbrush to brush it off, followed by siphoning out as much of the dislodged stuff as possible. It may come back a few times, but eventually will be forgotten.
