So I heard beetas eat brine eggs. Just wondering if this was true.
I have had my beeta for a week and it will not eat.
I'm feeding him flakes but does not seem to like them.

try blood worm or hikari betta pellets some bettas just dont like flakes i had one who refused to eat anything but the pellets

Bettas are carnivores and they can be quite fussy. Live blackworm, whiteworm or Artemia will usually tempt them, as will live mosquito larvae if you can get them. Hikari bio gold is expensive but if you only have one betta it shouldn't be too bad. Most won't eat flakes, none of mine will. You could also try frozen food like bloodworm. Brine shrimp eggs are used to hatch tiny babies called nauplii which are eaten by newborn betta fry. They are pinpoint sized when they hatch and an adult betta won't even see them, much less try to eat them. Full grown brine shrimp are a great treat though.

Thanks for the info guys. I went to the aquarium today and brought hikari betta pellets. He is eating now :)

I purchased brine eggs off ebay http://cgi.ebay.com.au/GSL-Brine-Shrimp-Eg...id=p3286.c0.m14

I'm going to try and grow them and feed them to my beeta. What do I need to put in the water before putting the eggs in? I remember having sea monkeys as a kid and putting some powder in before the eggs.

I believe it's some sort of salt, but you should do a little research on what to feed the brine shrimp too. They won't live long enough to grow big enough for your fish to eat if you don't feed them :p
