I just got a sword tail platy (male) and i would like to make it breed with my 2 platys (Female). I know it is possible but wat is the best way to make it happen apart from take them both out the tank.

40L tank
7 Tetra (mix)
1 Swordie (Male)
2 platy (Female)

You might not want to, hybrid babies are more likely to have deformities. Have you bred platies or swordtails yet? If not, breed both of them before hybridizing.

I have breed Platys but not swordies so im wanting to try hybriding.

As above - you're a lot more likely to get dodgy fry that you'll need to cull from hybridising than normal breeding. However, having them both in the same tank will likely result in breeding anyways. No need to do anything to them.

Thats why its almost impossible to get true platies. Beleive it or not, you already have hybrids. :good:
