hi, if you use a netted breeding trap and not a rigid sided trap to house ill fish are you not running the risk of spreading diseases. will contageos diseases still go through the netted breeding trap and infect other fish? Thanks Nick

im positive the netted ones and plastic floating ones are for breeding/fry only, hence why they are called breeders traps and not quarantine traps.

i always advise people to have a second tank as a hospital tank so sick fish can always be kept away from the healthy ones.

Spishkey is absolutely right.... Hospital tanks don't have to be big, but is essential.

thanks guys it helped. now all i have to do is find a small hospital tank in my area thats cheap! More Work! Thanks anyway! :good:

Spishkey is right

I use to use breeding trap for my fish but i felt that it is stressing them more then helping them.

paul i found that too. i now move any pregnant fish to a seperate tank about a week before they are due, gives them a rest from the males and time to settle in
