Breeding Daphnia

Is it possible to breed daphnia in a pond? I have a 100 litre whisky barrel that has running water going through it. Since I restarted the pump after the winter it has a large amount of algae in it. Would I be able to pop a few bags of daphnia into that or would the cold nights kill them?

it will be ok to keep daphnia in 100 litre barrel. Turn of your pump it may kill the daphnia only put in 1 or 2 bags the larger the container the more success you will have
