I like corys alot and around here they are pretty pricey so I was thinking about breeding them
I have 2 leapord corys one male and one female
So I was wondering where do the mostly lay eggs and when the do lay eggs should I remove them or let them stay and if I remove them do I keep them with the parents or not?
Also I was wondering what I should feed them when they hatch?

ideally you should have a group of 6 or more corys to make them happiest, but if you are sure you have a male and female it may work :)

you will see the eggs, they stick them all over the glass! (if you have a read through a few topics here there are plenty of pics that will show this)

i have in the past left the eggs in with the parents, they hatch in four days but i never had a single fry make it past a few weeks old.

this time round i removed the eggs into a seperate small tank with an airstone. once they hatched i fed them on newly hatched brine shrimp for three days, then gave a sinking catfish pellet. this sank to the bottom and kind of crumbled giving the babies an easy meal to eat.
i clean the fry tank daily and do 50% water change daily. they are growing beautifully and i am in the process of moving them back in with the shoal (a group of 6 adults, not sure whos dad though lol!) they are now a month old and look just like little corys!

this thread has some fantastic pictures in it.......

Hi williamc,

I was very lucky that my peppered corys spawned, there are only 3 at the moment ( 2 male and 1 female ). They just hit it off after about 3 weeks from when I bought them, and they where still quite small and young, IMO.

If you are looking at trying to breed them, reserch like made now, Before you get to what happened to me A Total Newbie With A Cory Spawn. Make sure you have all the stuff ready, and at hand.

All you have to do is ask. I'll try with my limited knowledge to help, but i'm sure others will help to as they have helped me :good:

Ohh and thanks Spishkey for the compliment  My post started off as :shout: and still asks for help. I hope it helps other people, and they say pictures speak louder then words :D
