I just got my juwel Rio 300 today of eBay (£150) and I noticed that the brace bar is missing and I wont some onions on to install the bar.

I was going to buy this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/JUWEL-RIO-300-400-FISH-TANK-BRACE-BAR-X-1-/200582299490?pt=UK_Pet_Supplies_Fish&hash=item2eb3a2ff62#ht_1556wt_1397

it doesn't come with glue and wonted to know what is the best way to stick it together

and any other ways would help as well

here are some pics

Ok,

Firstly the brace bars on Juwel tanks are not absolutely necessary, Juwel themselves have confirmed this, all they do is stop the top of the tank from bowing but this will not cause the tank to break (apparently).

However, I personally would refit one as its better to be safe than sorry. You can use superglue to attach it to the plastic top frame or silicone sealant.....my preference is superglue.

It may be worth thinking about your lighting and decor, will the brace bar cast any unwanted shadow? Would it be better to get two and place each one a 1/3 of the way along? Just something to think about as now's the time to sort it rather than when the tanks full :)

I will probably get 2 brace bars and how long should I leave them for.

I nocked mine off my rio 125 befor, and nearly done a big poo when the glass pinged out 1/4" or more! i would get the amount its supplied with especially on a longer tank!

It normally comes with one, the question of adding an extra one is to do with light shadows. Most reef keepers remove single, central brace bars and replace with two to avoid this, especially when using a single metal halide.

As for how long to leave it.....24hrs or longer if the product suggests.

Also if you are going to add a 3D background do now before you add the brace bars then you won't have to cut it, if not ignore my post. :)

Have you done your 3D background yet?

The reason I ask is I had one I made myself and stuck to the tank with silicone, yesterday I noticed I had a leak so I had to strip the tank everything out plus the background.
I got it all out but it left the silicone patched where I stuck the background to the tank, I got it off using a razor blade plus I softened it with White Spirit and the rest came off easy, I also used one of those pot washer scourer things and lightly went over the glass with it soaked in the white spirit, then finished it off with a kitchen roll.

Now to find the leak.
